The team will play seven matches at Gregory Gym campus in July.
Join the Austin Aces as they kick off their Mylan World TeamTennis season at Gregory Gym in July.
After playing their inaugural season at the Cedar Park Center, the Aces relocated to Gregory Gym for seven home matches. Individual match tickets are now on sale online at TexasSports.com/Tickets. General admission tickets start at $17.
Coached by nine-time Grand Slam doubles winner Rick Leach, the Aces roster includes former NCAA champions Nicole Gibbs and Jarmere Jenkins, world No. 19 in doubles Alla Kudryavtseva and the No. 2 ranked Russian player on the ATP Tour Teymur Gabashvili.
Built in 1930, Gregory Gym is rich in Texas Athletics history, having housed UT's basketball and swimming and diving teams for 46 years. The current home of the two-time NCAA champion volleyball team, the building underwent a $26.8 million renovation that was completed in November 1997. The redesign created a venue that merged the heritage and tradition of the original building with the state-of-the-art functionality of more modern interiors, including the addition of air-conditioning. Configured for tennis, the facility will be able to seat over 3,500 fans with VIP tables, courtside and reserved level chairback seating and general admission bleachers.
"Gregory Gym has long served as an excellent facility for Texas Athletics teams and provided a home for our student-athletes and our fans," said Texas Men's Athletics Director Steve Patterson. "We welcome the Austin Aces, and we look forward to the excitement for tennis they'll bring to The University of Texas campus."
"As soon as the 2014 season ended, we began evaluating all aspects of this team, from the record on the court to the sponsorships sold to the number of fans in the stands," said Aces Owner Lorne Abony. "From feedback we received and the analysis that was done by our front office, we felt that a relocation to a venue located closer to the city center would be in our team's best interest. We are thrilled to have been able to find a downtown home in Gregory Gym on the UT campus as the Aces work to become Austin's premier professional sports brand and the must-attend sporting event each summer."
