Marta Perez set to join to the Longhorns’ women’s tennis program next fall.
AUSTIN, Texas – University of Texas head women's tennis coach Howard Joffe announced Wednesday the signing of Spanish prep standout Marta Perez to a National Letter of Intent.
Perez, a quarterfinalist at a recent ITF Pro Circuit futures event in Telde, Spain, will join the Longhorns next August in advance of the 2017 fall semester.
"Firstly, we couldn't be more excited and appreciative for the trust that Marta and the Perez Mur family have placed in us," Joffe said. "Having spent a day or two with her, it's obvious that she will be a huge success as a student and as an athlete for The University of Texas.
"Marta is as intelligent and as driven as any coach could wish for," Joffe added. "Living in Tenerife just off of the Spanish mainland, Marta has already achieved great success in tennis. But, with the coaching and resources here at Texas, I think - to beat a hackneyed clique to death - Marta is a diamond in the rough about to shine."
