Taylor claims MVP honors at annual Men's Basketball team banquet

Ibeh named Most Improved Player and Outstanding Defensive Player.
AUSTIN, Texas — University of Texas junior point guard Isaiah Taylor claimed the team's Most Valuable Player honor, highlighting the 2015-16 men's basketball team banquet held Sunday evening in the Connolly Ballroom at the Etter-Harbin Alumni Center on the UT campus. Senior center Prince Ibeh earned the team's Most Improved Player Award and was named the team's Outstanding Defensive Player.
Taylor earned All-Big 12 First Team honors along with spots on the NABC All-District 8 Team and the USBWA All-District VII Team as a junior. He led the team in scoring (15.0 ppg), assists (5.0 apg) and minutes (30.9 mpg) and tied for the team lead in steals (29) during the 2015-16 season. Taylor reached double figures in scoring 25 times this year, including seven 20-point games and one 30-point effort.
Ibeh garnered Big 12 Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors this season. He led the team and ranked second in the league in blocked shots (64).
Texas concluded the 2015-16 season with a 20-13 record (11-7 Big 12, fourth) and advanced to the Round of 64 in the NCAA Tournament.
