Texas trio named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

Diving’s Cory Bowersox, swimming’s P.J. Dunne and tennis’ Breaunna Addison advance to national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
AUSTIN, Texas – The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday the selection of three University of Texas student-athletes to its Academic All-District Team.
CoSIDA members voted men's swimming and diving's Cory Bowersox and P.J. Dunne to the District 7 team in the Men's At-Large Division and selected tennis' Breaunna Addison to the District 7 team in the Women's At-Large division.
The At-Large division includes student-athletes from the following sports: women's rowing, women's bowling, fencing, women's field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, men's volleyball, water polo and men's wrestling.
District 7 covers NCAA Division I schools in Texas, Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Wyoming.
Bowersox earns his third consecutive CoSIDA Academic All-District Team selection while Addison collects her second and Dunne his first. All three student-athletes advance to the national ballot for CoSIDA Academic All-America consideration.
A first-team CoSIDA Academic All-American in 2015 and a third-team Academic All-American in 2014, Bowersox carries a 3.79 GPA in mechanical engineering. The senior from Fairfax, Virginia, is a three-time Academic All-Big 12 first-team selection, seven-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll and a CSCAA Scholar All-American.
Bowersox finished his collegiate diving career in March as a five-time All-American and four-time Big 12 champion. He helped Texas Men's Swimming and Diving NCAA win team titles in 2015 and 2016.
A 2016 NCAA Championships qualifier, Dunne carries a 3.99 GPA in biochemistry (pre-med). The 2016 Men's Swimming and Diving Team Academic MVP, Dunne is a two-time Academic All-Big 12 selection. The junior from Pensacola, Florida, is a recipient of UT's Provost Award.
A two-time All-American and Big 12 Player of the Year, Addison carries a 3.31 GPA in sport management. The senior from Boca Raton, Florida earns her second Academic All-District selection to go with her award as a sophomore in 2014.
Addison is a three-time first team selection to the Academic All-Big 12 Team and a five-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll. The seven-time All-Big 12 selection is a two-time NCAA Elite 90 nominee and a two-time member of the ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) All-Academic Team.
