Trio of former Longhorns set for 2016 NBA Draft

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Former University of Texas basketball standouts Prince Ibeh, Cameron Ridley and Isaiah Taylor will look to have their names called during Thursday night's NBA Draft at Barclays Center. ESPN will provide start-to-finish coverage of the draft beginning at 6 p.m. Central (7 p.m. Eastern).
During his four seasons at Texas, Ibeh played in 135 games (28 starts) and averaged 3.0 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in 13.1 minutes per contest. He concluded his career ranked No. 4 on the UT career blocks list (212) and tied for No. 7 on the school's career games played chart (135). Ibeh reached double figures in scoring seven times and in rebounds seven times and posted three career double-doubles.
Ibeh earned Big 12 Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors as a senior in 2015-16. He led the team and ranked second in the league in blocked shots (64). Ibeh, who also claimed the team's Most Improved Player and Outstanding Defensive Player accolades, ranked third on the team in rebounding (5.0 rpg).
In his four years in Austin, Ridley played in 115 games (96 starts) and averaged 8.2 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.9 blocks in 21.4 minutes per contest. He concluded his career ranked No. 3 on the UT career blocks list (220) and No. 10 on the school's career rebounds chart (720). Ridley reached double figures in scoring 41 times and in rebounds 26 times and posted 18 double-doubles in his career.
During his senior season in 2015-16, Ridley played in 13 games (11 starts) and led the team in rebounding (8.5 rpg) while ranking second in scoring (11.1 ppg) and blocks (37). He suffered a fractured left foot during practice on Dec. 27, had surgery on Dec. 29 and missed the next 20 games. Ridley returned to the court and played limited minutes in UT's final two contests of the season. Prior to suffering the injury (first 11 games), he led the team in rebounding (10.0 rpg) and blocks (3.4 bpg) and ranked second in scoring (12.7 ppg) and minutes (26.0 mpg) while converting 63.2 percent (60-95) from the floor. He set a single-game school record with 9 blocks against Appalachian State (Dec. 15).
Taylor concluded his three-year career at Texas ranked No. 7 on the school's career assists chart (415) and No. 20 on the UT career scoring list (1,254 points). He averaged 13.6 points and 4.5 assists per game in 92 career contests (all starts).
In his junior season in 2015-16, Taylor earned All-Big 12 First Team honors along with spots on the NABC All-District 8 and USBWA All-District VII teams. He led the team in scoring (15.0 ppg), assists (5.0 apg) and minutes (30.9 mpg) and tied for the team lead in steals (29). Taylor reached double figures in scoring 25 times this year, including seven 20-point games and one 30-point effort. He posted a 2.69 assist-to-turnover ratio (164 assists, 61 turnovers) as a junior, the third-best single-season mark in UT history.
Since the NBA Draft began in 1947, a total of 42 Longhorns have heard their names called on draft night. Texas has produced a total of 15 first-round selections and 11 second-round picks in program history. Raymond Downs, a sixth-round pick by St. Louis in 1957, was the first Longhorn to be drafted.
Texas has had 17 players drafted in the previous 17 years, dating back to the 1999 Draft. The Longhorns have had at least two players selected in a single draft a total of nine previous times in program history: 1978, 1979, 1985, 1987, 1990, 1994, 2006, 2010 and 2011. Since the NBA Draft was reduced to two rounds in 1989, UT has produced a pair of picks in a single draft a total of five previous times.
