Eight-day competition begins June 26 in Omaha; finals air live each night on NBC.
AUSTIN, Texas - Current, former and future Longhorns head for Omaha, Nebraska over the next 10 days as they aim for spots on the U.S. Olympic Team at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials.
The event gets underway Sunday morning (June 26) at CenturyLink Center Omaha and continues until the final berths on the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team are awarded on Sunday, July 3. NBC will air live coverage of finals each night at 7 p.m. CT. Twenty-six men and 26 women will earn places on the 2016 U.S. Olympic Swimming Team.
Texas has placed at least one man on every U.S. Olympic swimming team since Eddie Reese took over the Longhorns men's program in 1978. The Texas women have had at least one current, former or future Longhorn on every U.S. Olympic women's swimming team since 1976.

U.S. Olympic Trials competition format
Preliminary, semifinal and final rounds are contested in each event aside from the 400 freestyle, 400 individual medley, women's 800 freestyle and men's 1500m freestyle, where only preliminary and finals rounds are contested.
The top-16 swimmers from the preliminary rounds advance to semifinals (when applicable) from which the top-eight finishers advance to finals. In events contested without semifinals, the top-eight finishers from the preliminary round advance to finals later that night.
Each event except for the 100 and 200 freestyle events calls for the top-two finishers per gender to earn spots on the U.S. Olympic Team. The top-four finishers in the 100 and 200 freestyle automatically earn berths on the Olympic team, though under team selection procedures, the fifth- and sixth-place finishers in those events effectively earn berths on the team, as well.
