Banzer helps Bolivia to victory at Davis Cup

UT rising sophomore Rodrigo Banzer paces native Bolivia to win over Cuba in Davis Cup group play; UT signee Christian Sigsgaard awaits Davis Cup match for Denmark.
LA PAZ, Bolivia – Texas rising sophomore Rodrigo Banzer notched a doubles win and helped his native Bolivia to a win over Cuba Tuesday in Davis Cup round-robin group play.
Banzer teamed up with fellow countryman Alejandro Mendoza to post a 6-2, 6-1 win over Cuba's Yasier Estrada and Osmel Rivera Granja, as Bolivia posted a 3-0 win in its round-robin match against Cuba. Bolivia takes on Jamaica in its next Davis Cup match in Pool A, Group III Americas.
Texas signee Christian Sigsgaard rejoins his Denmark Davis Cup team for a second-round contest against Finland this weekend (July 15-17) in Denmark.
Sigsgaard, who will join the Longhorns this fall, helped Denmark defeat the Republic of Georgia in Davis Cup play last March when he knocked off former top-100 player Nikoloz Basilashvili.
Also in action this week is UT redshirt freshman Leonardo Telles, who won three qualifying-round matches to reach the main draw of an ATP futures event in his native Brazil. Telles defeated Felipe D'Annunzio in the first round (6-3, 6-2) on Tuesday.
