Sprinter vying for spot on national team
EUGENE, Ore. – Chrisann Gordon hopes to make her first Olympic team tomorrow when she runs in the final of the 400 meters at the Jamaican Olympic Trials.
Gordon advanced through the semifinals on Saturday night as she clocked in at 51.51 seconds. She finished third in her heat to grab and automatic spot in the final.
The USTFCCCA All-American has run for Team Jamaica before but not in the Olympic Games. Last summer, Gordon ran on Jamaica's 4x400 meter relay during the semifinals of the IAAF World Championships. For that effort she received a gold medal when the Jamaicans claimed victory in the final. She also ran for Jamaica at IAAF World Indoor Championships in March immediately at the NCAA Championships.
Gordon runs in the final at 5 p.m. CT Sunday from Kingston, Jamaica.
