Men's High Jump Qualifying Rd Results
RIO DE JANEIRO – In his first Olympic Games, former Texas track and field standout Jamal Wilson finished in a tie for 25th place.
Competing for his native Bahamas, Wilson cleared two bars during the qualifying round of the men's high jump at the Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro. Wilson posted a height of 2.22 meters (7-3.25) on his first attempt to tie for 25th place overall. He also cleared the opening height of 2.17 (7-1.50) on his first attempt but was unable to successfully jump 2.26 meters (7-5.00) to stay alive in the competition or advance to Tuesday night's final.
Track and field action will continue for the next week. The Longhorns will see two runners in action on Monday in the 400 meter hurdles for Team USA. Byron Robinson is set to run in the men's prelims during the morning session of track and field, slated to start at 7:30 a.m. CT. Ashley Spencer will run in the evening session in the women's prelims.
