RIO — Former University of Texas standout Kevin Durant posted 14 points and 8 rebounds to lead Team USA to an 82-76 win against Spain (4-3) in the semifinals at the 2016 Olympics on Friday afternoon. Durant converted 6-of-13 field goals, including 2-of-5 from three-point range, while adding 1 assist in a team-high 31 minutes.
Durant has reached double figures in scoring in each of the first seven games at the Rio Olympics and in all 15 career games played in Olympic competition. Through the first seven contests in Rio, Durant leads Team USA in scoring (17.9 ppg) and minutes (28.4 mpg) and ranks second in rebounding (5.3 rpg) and third in assists (24). He has converted 42-of-71 (.592) field goals, including 20-of-32 (.625) from three-point range, and 21-of-26 (.808) free throws.
The Americans (7-0) advance to the Gold Medal game and will face Serbia (5-2) on Sunday, Aug. 21. Tip time for that contest is 1:45 p.m. Central, and the game will be televised live by NBC.
