GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Ryan Harty's victory in the 200-yard backstroke highlighted day two for No. 2 Texas Saturday in its double-dual meet against No. 4 Florida and No. 6 Indiana.
Texas opened day two with a third-place mark of 3:17.46 in the 400-yard medley relay. Later on, UT senior Jonathan Roberts took a close second in the 400 individual medley at 3:50.13. The Southlake native was an All-American in the 400 IM in addition to the 200 IM and 200 backstroke a year ago.
Senior Brett Ringgold led the Horns with his third-place 44.67 in the 100 freestyle. The redshirt sophomore Harty led a one-two Texas finish in the 200 backstroke alongside the aforementioned Roberts. Harty, an All-American in the event as a freshman, was victorious in 1:44.93, and Roberts followed closely behind at 1:45.69.
Texas finished off the meet with a second-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay, as senior Brett Ringgold joined junior John Shebat, sophomore Jacob Huerta and junior Tate Jackson to clock 1:20.65.
Indiana defeated Texas by a 264-165 count, and Florida dealt the Longhorns a 258-171 defeat. Indiana knocked off Florida, 242-187.
Texas resumes dual-meet competition on Nov. 3 at Texas A&M.
