Texas sophomore Grayson Campbell gives the Longhorns their second national title in as many days.
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Texas sophomore Grayson Campbell teamed up with North Carolina diver Gregory Duncan to claim the men's synchronized three-meter title Monday afternoon at the 2017 USA Diving Winter National Championships.
Campbell and Duncan secured the top seed after the preliminary round, and they held on to the top spot throughout the final. Campbell and Duncan finished with 771.99 points, nearly 20 points clear of runners-up Briadam Herrera and Joseph Cifelli.
"This feels awesome," Campbell told USA Diving. "It's really fun when I'm with one of my best friends. We grew up together in the same town, so it's real special to win a first national synchro title with him. I couldn't be happier."
Campbell delivers the second U.S. national title for a Longhorns diver in as many days. Freshman Jordan Windle won his second straight U.S. national title in men's platform on Sunday.
Sophomore Jacob Cornish competed alongside UT signee Andrew Gawin-Parigini in Monday's synchronized three-meter final and placed fifth with 615 points.
The 2017 USA Diving Winter National Championships conclude Tuesday with synchronized competition in women's three-meter and men's platform.
