Destiny Littleton, Team USA start FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup with two wins

CHENGDU, China – Freshman Texas guard Destiny Littleton and Team USA opened play at the 2017 FIBA 3x3 U18 World Cup with a pair of wins on Thursday in Chengdu, China.
The United States opened by beating Hungary 13-9 and then defeating Japan 21-15 to open the Group A preliminary round with a 2-0 record.
Littleton scored eight points over the two-game stretch for the United States on Thursday.
Team USA is back in action on Saturday, facing Switzerland at 5:05 a.m. CT and Australia at 6:40 a.m. CT. The top-two teams from Group A advance to Sunday's medal quarterfinals.
Littleton, along with teammates Janelle Bailey, Aquira DeCosta and Christyn Williams comprise Team USA.
In accordance with FIBA 3x3 rules, each game consists of one, 10-minute period. The team leading after completion of regular playing time, or the first team to score 21 points is declared the winner. If the game ends in a tie, the first team to score two points in overtime earns the victory. Shots made outside the arc are awarded two points, shots made inside the arc are awarded one point and each made free throw is worth one point. Additionally, a 12-second shot clock is utilized.
