Boyette is averaging 4.6 points per game and 4.4 rebounds per game in 22 contests this season.
Former Texas women's basketball player Imani Boyette, the only player in school history to reach the combined milestone of 1,000 career points, 1,000 career rebounds and 200 career blocks, has been traded to the WNBA's Atlanta Dream, it was announced Monday evening.
Boyette was selected by the Chicago Sky with the 10th pick in the 2016 WNBA Draft, making her the fourth player in UT history to be selected in the first round of the WNBA Draft. Boyette has played for the Chicago Sky since the start of the 2016 season.
The Atlanta Dream traded forward Jordan Hooper and their 2018 first-round draft pick to the Chicago Sky to acquire Boyette, a 6-foot-7 center, forward Tamera Young and the Sky's 2018 second-round draft selection.
"Imani Boyette provides us size with the ability to defend and rebound," Atlanta head coach Michael Cooper said in a statement.
Boyette is averaging 4.6 points per game and 4.4 rebounds per game in 22 contests this season. The move takes Boyette from a Chicago Sky team that ranks 11th in the WNBA standings with an 8-16 record to an Atlanta Dream team at 10-13 that currently ranks eighth in the WNBA standings and is in playoff contention. The eight teams with the highest winning percentages regardless of conference qualify for the WNBA Playoffs.
Boyette finished her decorated career 22nd on UT's all-time career scoring list with 1,361 career points, fifth on UT's all-time career rebounding list with 1,036 career rebounds and second on UT's all-time career blocks list with 303.
Boyette made the All-Big 12 First Team as a junior and senior with the Longhorns. The three-time Big 12 All-Defensive Team selection was the conference's co-Defensive Player of the Year in 2015-16 after leading the league in blocked shots (3.6 bpg) and ranking second in defensive rebounding (6.8 drpg).
The Dream travel to Minnesota Thursday to face the league-leading Lynx beginning at 7 p.m. CT on ESPN2.
