Turati twins advance in singles qualifying draw at ITF Florence (S.C.) pro event

Pair of UT juniors register impressive straight-set wins in first round of singles qualifying.

FLORENCE, S.C. — University of Texas juniors Anna Turati and Bianca Turati each recorded dominant straight-set victories on Sunday in the first round of singles qualifying at the ITF (International Tennis Federation) pro circuit event at the Dr. Eddie Floyd Florence Tennis Center. Both players advance to the second round of qualifying on Monday, Oct. 15.
Anna Turati posted an impressive 6-2, 6-1 victory against Alexa Graham, the No. 16 seed in the singles qualifying draw. Graham, who plays collegiately at North Carolina, is No. 60 in the preseason Oracle/ITA national singles rankings and No. 750 in the most recent WTA (Women's Tennis Association) world rankings.
Bianca Turati, the No. 2 seed in the singles qualifying draw, registered a 6-0, 6-0 win against Emma Allen in her first-round match.
Each player must win three qualifying-round matches to advance to the tournament's 32-player main draw. The singles main draw is scheduled for Oct. 16-21.
Bianca Turati entered the Florence event at No. 474 in the latest WTA (Women's Tennis Association) world singles rankings. Anna Turati is No. 751 in the current rankings.
