AUSTIN, Texas - Head swimming coach Carol Capitani, head diving coach Matt Scoggin and the No. 1 University of Texas Women's Swimming and Diving team announced on Monday the signing of six student-athletes to the class of 2019. The class includes two divers and four swimmers, including three student-athletes ranked as a SwimSwam top-20 recruit for the class of 2019.
Janie Boyle | Orange, Ohio | Orange High School | Diving
Boyle is a fifth-place finisher at the 2018 USA Diving Junior National Championships on platform with a total of 406.20 points. At the 2018 USA Diving Zone C Championships, Boyle placed first in the 1-meter event and earned second-place finishes on 3-meter and platform. Boyle is the daughter of James and Rebecca and she currently dives for Marc Cahalane of American Flyers Diving.
Jordan Skilken | Columbus, Ohio | Columbus Academy | Diving
In 2017, Skilken took sixth-place at the 2017 USA Diving National Championships in the 3-meter event with a score of 260.80. She also earned a fourth-place finish on 3-meter at the 2018 Junior World Championship Trials and sixth-place on platform. Her father, Steve, was an All-American diver at Ohio State.
Miranda Heckman | Livermore, California | Granada High School | Freestyle
One of the top recruits out of California and a 2017-18 NISC All-American, Heckman was the 2018 California H.S. Champion in the 200 and 500 free. With her best 500 just off the invited time to the NCAA Championships and with national cuts in the 100 through the 800, Heckman will be an immediate contributor to the program. Heckman represented Team USA at the 2017 FINA Junior World Championships in the 400m free and the 4x200 F.R. The youngest daughter of Tony & Shelly Heckman, Miranda swims for Steve Morsilli and the Pleasanton Seahawks.
Kelly Pash | Carmel, Indiana | Carmel High School | Freestyle
Pash is a 2018 NISCA All-American and Indiana's top female swimmer of 2019. One of College Swimming's top 10 recruits of the 2019 class, Pash is both versatile and talented, and will make an immediate impact at the NCAA level. Pash represented the United States at the 2017 FINA Junior World Championships, taking home three silver medals. The youngest daughter of Joe and Janice Pash, Kelly swims for Chris Plumb and Carmel Swim Club.
Bridget Semenuk | Riverside, Connecticut | Greenwich High School | Freestyle
One of USA Swimming's Scholastic All-Americans and Connecticut's #1 recruit in this 2019 class, Semenuk is a strong 50-100-200 freestyler with great range, including a 200m time (2:01.1) that landed her on USA Swimming's 2018 "18&U World 100" list. Coming off a great summer with personal best times, she will fill important vacancies left by the senior class. Semenuk swims for Jamie Barone at Chelsea Piers Aquatic Club and her parents are Chris and Andrea Semenuk.
Mary Smutny | Cutler Bay, Florida | Home Schooled | Freestyle/Butterfly
Smutny, a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American and a NISCA All-American, was Florida's 2018 1A State Champion in the 200 free and the runner-up in the 100 free. One of SwimSwam's top 20 recruits in the 2019 class, Smutny shows versatility in the 100 through the 500 freestyle as well as the 200 fly. Smutny is a tenacious racer and the Longhorn program can't wait until she is competing in the burnt orange and white! Mary is the daughter of Steve and Nadine Smutny and she swims for Lou Mangimello and the Aquakids Sharks Swim Team.
