Men's Basketball enters Top 25 rankings of both major national polls

AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Texas Men's Basketball team returned to the national rankings in both of the major national polls released Monday. UT is ranked No. 17 in The Associated Press' Top 25 and No. 17 in the USA Today Coaches' poll.
This marks UT's first appearance in the AP Top 25, since the Longhorns were ranked No. 22 on Nov. 21, 2016. It also is the highest AP ranking during the Shaka Smart era, topping the previous mark of No. 21 in the 2016 preseason AP poll.
This marks Texas' first appearance in the Coaches weekly poll, since the Longhorns were ranked No. 21 on Nov. 21, 2016.
Texas (5-1) had an impressive two-game performance last week in Las Vegas at the Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational. In Thursday's semifinals (Nov. 22), the Longhorns topped No. 7/6 North Carolina 92-89. Texas followed with a 78-68 defeat to No. 11/11 Michigan State in Friday's championship game (Nov. 23). In the loss to Michigan State, UT jumped out to a 25-6 advantage and led the contest for over 23 minutes.
The Longhorns return to action against Radford at home on Friday, Nov. 30. Tip is set for 6 p.m. Central at the Frank Erwin Center, and the game will be televised nationally by Longhorn Network.
