Twenty-Two from Cross Country earn 2018 Academic All-Big 12

The Longhorns placed 20 individuals on the first team.
AUSTIN, Texas - A total of twenty-two Longhorns from the Cross Country programs earned 2018 Academic All-Big 12 honors on Wednesday. Twenty of those student-athletes earned first-team honors with a grade point average of 3.20 or better. Jake Johnson was honored with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
On the men's side, eight Longhorns earned first-team honors: Garek Bielaczyc, Dan Golden, Zach Hamstra, Trevor Heinz, Jake Johnson, Matthew McClellan, Alex Rogers and Sam Worley.
On the women's side, 12 Longhorns earned first-team recognition: Skyler Bollinger, Destiny Collins, Gabby Crank, Marissa Flournoy, Abby Guidry, Abigail Hirst, Meghan Lloyd, Anna Norman, Celesia Smith, Olivia Thompson, Jaylene Vu and Jordan Welborn; while two others earned second-team honors: Shayna Bains and Claudine Blancaflor.
