Ariel Atkins named to WNBA All-Rookie Team

Atkins has already set the WNBA's combined rookie playoffs scoring record.
Former University of Texas women's basketball standout Ariel Atkins was a unanimous selection to the WNBA's All-Rookie Team, which was announced on Sunday.
Atkins has already earned recognition on the Associated Press' six-member WNBA All-Rookie Team and was a member of the WNBA's All-Defensive Second Team.
Atkins, the seventh overall pick of the 2018 WNBA Draft by the Washington Mystics, finished the regular season ranked fourth among rookies in scoring (11.3 points per game). She ranked second among rookies in three-point field goal percentage (35.7) and steals per game (1.34), and was tied for second in field goal percentage (43.2).
Atkins and her Mystics team are currently competing in the WNBA Finals against the top-seeded Seattle Storm. Atkins has already set the WNBA's combined rookie playoffs scoring record and has 128 points to this point in the WNBA Playoffs.
Atkins was a three-time All-Big 12 Conference player and a four-time member of the Academic All-Big 12 teams. She played in 121 career games with 100 starts, scoring in double figures on 81 occasions. Her career free-throw percentage of 83.1 ranks fourth all-time in UT history, her career free-throw percentage of 83.1 ranks sixth all-time in UT history and her career scoring total of 1,497 points is 20th in program history.
