The University of Texas at Austin Athletics
'Bleed Orange. Live Green.' at Football vs. Kansas this Saturday
10.14.2019 | Texas Athletics, Bleed Orange. Live Green.
Fans encouraged to help tackle zero waste on gameday.
In Texas Athletics' continuing efforts to make strides in its zero waste initiative, this Saturday's Football game vs. Kansas is 'Bleed Orange. Live Green. Sustainability Saturday.' The Longhorns and its sustainability services provider, Texas Disposal Systems, encourage fans to help divert waste out of the landfill and, instead, recycling or composting it. Fans will see members of the Equinor Sustainability Squad all around Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on Saturday, helping fans direct their gameday waste to the appropriate receptacles. Here's how fans can help:
- Recycle and compost correctly
- Look to the waste guidelines posted on every bin inside and outside of the stadium.
- Ask an Equinor Sustainability Squad member if you are unsure.
- Tailgaters
- Recycling bag dispensers are located in all tailgate lots.
- Take a bag.
- Fill it up with your bottles and cans.
- Leave the bag at your tailgate site. It's that easy!

Texas Athletics is a two-time Green Sports Alliance Innovator of the Year award winner, and appreciates the tremendous support from the 'Bleed Orange. Live Green.' sponsors: Texas Disposal Systems, Equinor, and Coca-Cola.
