Women's Tennis' Labraña wins singles title at Texas Invitational

UT junior defeats No. 80 Daevenia Achong in three sets in Sunday’s championship match.
AUSTIN, Texas — University of Texas women's tennis junior Fernanda Labraña claimed the singles championship at the Texas Invitational with a hard-fought 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 victory against No. 80 Daevenia Achong of Miami, Fla. on Sunday morning at the Texas Tennis Center. Labraña completed the three-day tournament with four singles wins en route to her title.
In an additional singles match on Sunday morning, sophomore Marta Perez Mur earned a 6-3, 6-0 victory against SMU's Jackie Nylander.
The tournament featured players from six teams around the country, including Miami (Fla.), Rice, SMU, Tennessee and Texas A&M in addition to host Texas.
