PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Sophomore guard Courtney Ramey registered a team-high 12 points, but The University of Texas Men's Basketball team (9-2) dropped a 70-48 decision to Providence (7-6) on Saturday afternoon at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The Longhorns were held to a season-low 48 points while converting season lows in field goal percentage (.317) and three-point field goal percentage (.143) in the loss.
Junior guard Matt Coleman III also reached double figures in scoring with 11 points, while junior forward Jericho Sims pulled down a season-high 13 rebounds and tied his career high with 3 blocked shots.
Providence raced out to a 43-28 halftime lead. The Friars converted 45.7-percent (26-67) from the field, including a 7-of-14 (.500) mark from three-point range, in the opening 20 minutes. The Longhorns were unable to cut the deficit below 12 points in the second half.
