Sophomore Texas center Charli Collier has been named the espnW National Player of the Week after her standout performances in an upset of No. 1 Stanford and a win against Mid-American Conference preseason favorite Ohio this past week, it was announced Monday.
ESPN's Charlie Creme, Graham Hays and Mechelle Voepel each vote to determine espnW's national player of the week, which is awarded every Monday of the women's college basketball season.
Collier averaged a squad-best 15.0 points per game and 17.5 rebounds per game this week, playing 31.0 minutes per game.
In the win against No. 1 Stanford, Collier led the Longhorns with a game-high 20 points and a game-high and career-high 19 rebounds in 37 minutes of play. Collier's 19 rebounds were the eighth-most in a single game in program history and made her the first Longhorn to record 19 or more boards in a single game since Nneka Enemkpali had 21 on Jan. 25, 2014 against Baylor. Collier also tied her career high with a pair of three-pointers made.
In the victory against Ohio, Collier totaled a game-high 16 rebounds to complement 10 points in 25 minutes of play.
Collier had a double-double in both games this week, giving her eight on the season, which ties her for second place in the NCAA. As a team, Texas leads the nation with 17 double-doubles.
