Men's Basketball to host South Dakota State in NIT First Round on Tuesday

AUSTIN, Texas -- The University of Texas Men's Basketball team received a bid to the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) on Sunday evening. Texas will host South Dakota State on Tuesday, March 19 at 8 p.m. Central at the Frank Erwin Center, and the game will be televised nationally by ESPN.
Tickets are available for $14 per person for reserved seating in the lower level sideline and $12 per person for general admission seats in the lower level baseline. The first 100 UT Austin students to arrive and show their UT student ID at E doors at the Frank Erwin Center will receive complimentary admission. After those tickets have been distributed, students may purchase $4 general admission tickets by showing their student ID.
The Longhorns (16-16, 8-10 Big 12) are the No. 2 seed in one of the four 8-team brackets, while the Jackrabbits (24-8, 14-2 The Summit League) are the No. 7 seed.
This marks UT's first appearance in the Postseason NIT since the 1985-86 season, a span of 33 years. The Longhorns are 6-3 all-time in their four previous trips to the tourney, including a run to the 1978 NIT Championship.
