Soccer wraps up spring schedule at home against Monterrey Tech & Houston

AUSTIN, Texas – Texas soccer will be involved in the upcoming "Made in Austin Weekend" as the Longhorns close out their 2019 spring schedule at Mike A. Myers Stadium with exhibition matches against Monterrey Tech (Fri., April 12, at 7 p.m. CT) and Houston (Sun., April 14, at 1 p.m. CT).
Admission to Texas soccer spring home matches is FREE to all who wish to attend, and fans are strongly encouraged to pre-pay for parking for just $5 through Click-and-Park through this LINK.
The Longhorns own a 2-1 record so far against a challenging spring schedule with a 2-1 win over UTRGV, a 1-0 loss to NWSL professional team, the Houston Dash, and a 5-0 rout of St. Edward's.
Sophomore midfielder Haley Berg has led the scoring charge for the Burnt Orange & White with five total goals, including a hat trick last Friday night against St. Edward's. Junior forward Cyera Hintzen and freshman forward MacKenzie McFarland have each scored once for the Horns this spring.
Texas is returning 24 letter winners from last fall's 13-5-3 Texas squad that reached the Big 12 Championship semifinals and the NCAA Tournament Field of 64. Those returnees combined to account for 24-of-39 goals (62%), 24-of-42 assists (57%) and 72-of-120 total points (60%) during the 2018 season as well as all 13 goalkeeping wins and seven shutouts between the pipes (goalkeeper Nicole Curry).
Included among the numerous standouts back are 2018 United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-American forward Cyera Hintzen (10 goals, nine assists) as well as United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region selections Haley Berg (six goals, three assists) and Julia Grosso (Big 12 Co-Freshman of the Year - two goals).
