Eight former Longhorns set for NBA Playoffs

AUSTIN, Texas — A total of eight University of Texas former men's basketball players will be involved in the upcoming 2019 NBA Playoffs beginning this weekend. LaMarcus Aldridge (San Antonio Spurs), Jarrett Allen (Brooklyn Nets), D.J. Augustin (Orlando Magic), Mohamed Bamba (Orlando Magic), Kevin Durant (Golden State Warriors), Cory Joseph (Indiana Pacers), P.J. Tucker (Houston Rockets) and Myles Turner (Indiana Pacers) are all currently on their team's postseason rosters.
Aldridge, currently in his 13th season in the league and fourth with the Spurs, averaged 21.3 points, 9.2 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 33.2 minutes per contest during the regular season. The seven-time NBA All-Star converted 51.9-percent from the floor and 84.7-percent from the free throw line this year. San Antonio earned the No. 7 seed in the Western Conference and opens its First Round series at No. 2 seed Denver on Saturday (9:30 pm Central, ESPN).
Allen, currently in his second season with the Nets, averaged 10.9 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 26.2 minutes per contest during the regular season. Allen, who competed in the 2019 Rising Stars Challenge during All-Star Weekend, converted 59-percent from the floor this year. Brooklyn earned the No. 6 seed in the Eastern Conference and opens its First Round series at No. 3 seed Philadelphia on Saturday (1:30 p.m. Central, ESPN).
Augustin, currently in his 11th season in the league and third with the Magic, averaged 11.7 points and 5.3 assists in 28 minutes per contest during the regular season. He converted 47-percent from the floor, including 42.1-percent from three-point range, and 86.6-percent from the free throw line this year. Orlando earned the No. 7 seed in the Eastern Conference and opens its First Round series at No. 2 seed Toronto on Saturday (4 p.m. Central, ESPN).
Bamba, who in completing his rookie season with the Magic, averaged 6.2 points, 5 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 16.3 minutes per contest during the regular season. Orlando earned the No. 7 seed in the Eastern Conference and opens its First Round series at No. 2 seed Toronto on Saturday (4 p.m. Central, ESPN).
Durant, currently in his 12th season in the NBA and third with the Warriors, averaged 26 points, 6.4 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 1.1 blocks in 34.6 minutes per contest during the regular season. The 10-time NBA All-Star and two-time NBA Finals MVP converted 52.1-percent from the floor and 88.5-percent from the free throw line this year. Golden State earned the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference and opens its First Round series against the No. 8 seed Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday (7 p.m. Central, ABC).
Joseph, currently in his eighth season in the league and second with the Pacers, averaged 6.5 points, 3.9 assists and 3.4 rebounds in 25.2 minutes per contest during the regular season. Indiana earned the No. 5 seed in the Eastern Conference and opens its First Round series at No. 4 seed Boston on Sunday (12 p.m. Central, TNT).
Tucker, currently in his eighth season in the league and second with the Rockets, averaged 7.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 34.2 minutes per contest during the regular season. He converted 37.7-percent from three-point range this year. Houston earned the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference and opens its First Round series against No. 5 seed Utah on Sunday (8:30 p.m. Central, TNT).
Turner, currently in his fourth season in the NBA (all with the Pacers), averaged 13.3 points, 7.2 rebounds and a league-best 2.7 blocks in 28.6 minutes per contest during the regular season. He converted 48.7-percent from the floor, including a 38.8-percent mark from three-point range, and 73.6-percent from the free throw line this year. Indiana earned the No. 5 seed in the Eastern Conference and opens its First Round series at No. 4 seed Boston on Sunday (12 p.m. Central, TNT).
