Greetings Longhorn Nation,
What a spectacular party Made in Austin Weekend will be on the Forty Acres in just a few days! Starting Friday, we'll gather as a community to celebrate everything great about The University of Texas, the City of Austin, and Longhorn Nation. We've got our Football Sugar Bowl Champions in action at the spring game, along with Baseball games and Soccer matches. We've got Longhorn City Limits concerts headlined by Ludacris, food trucks, beverages, Bevo XV, the Longhorn Band and throngs of burnt orange and white. Come on out and join us at all the wonderful events we have planned. It will be THE PLACE to be and, I promise, you'll have a blast!
Last week was an entertaining one with lots of Longhorns victories including Men's Basketball bringing home the NIT Championship from the illustrious Madison Square Garden in New York City. I know we have bigger goals in the future -- and this can be a springboard toward those -- but watching our young men come together as a team and win five straight games to bring home the tournament title certainly brought a smile to our faces.
We also saw Softball continue to win big games, taking their series at No. 15 Texas Tech. Both Tennis teams remain undefeated in Big 12 play as the women defeated TCU and Texas Tech at home, and the men got a top-10 road win against the Horned Frogs. On the heels of that win, Men's Tennis climbed to No. 1 in the polls. We are so proud of all Coach Berque and the team are accomplishing. What a tribute it is to their grit and determination to see them reach that position.
Next week will be big, too, as we pay tribute on April 22 to the successes of our student-athletes and teams at the first-ever all sports Longhorn Honors event. You can vote for your favorite Longhorns by following @TexasLonghorns on Twitter. New awards and nominees will be announced daily over the next couple weeks as we head toward the big event. Follow us and use the hashtag #LonghornHonors19 for complete event coverage.
It feels like every weekend this spring keeps getting bigger and better, and I'm so excited about what lies ahead. Thank you for cheering us on and helping us continue to put the "T" back in Texas.
