IRVING, Texas — The Big 12 and Southeastern Conferences announced the pairings for the 2020 Big 12/SEC Challenge. Texas will host LSU at the Frank Erwin Center on Saturday, Jan. 25.
The seventh annual event will consist of 10 games, as every Big 12 member will participate against 10 squads from the SEC. This marks the fifth consecutive year that all games in the Challenge will be played on one day. ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU will combine to televise all 10 contests, and ESPN's College GameDay will originate from one of the sites. Tip times and network designations will be announced at a later date.
LSU holds a 19-11 lead in the all-time series between the two schools. This will mark the first meeting between the Longhorns and the Tigers since Texas posted a 76-75 overtime win at Houston's Toyota Center on Dec. 10, 2006. It also will mark the first meeting in Austin between the two schools since the Longhorns registered a 69-63 win on Dec. 17, 1997.
Big 12 teams are 35-25 (.583) in the Big 12/SEC Challenge, including a 6-4 advantage in 2019. The Big 12 has a yearly Challenge record of 4-1-1, with wins in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2019. The tie occurred in 2017.
