Five from Rowing competing in 2019 World Championship

Five current, former and future University of Texas rowers, representing their home countries, are participating in the 2019 World Rowing Championships August 25 through September 1 in Linz Ottensheim, Austria.
The Longhorns competing include:
• Fernanda Ceballos, Mexico [W2-]
• Aspa Christodoulidis, Greece [W2x]
• Gia Doonan, USA [W8+]
• Izabela Krakic, Croatia [W2-]
• Milica Slijepcevic, Serbia [W2x]

"I'm really impressed with the work everyone has done to get to this point," Texas head coach Dave O'Neill said. "The performance level and standard of racing for all of them is really high, and it's great to see our program having such a presence at the highest level for our sport."
Representing the United States, Doonan is a 2017 Texas graduate and one of the most decorated Longhorns in program history. She was the 2015 and 2017 Big 12 Conference Rower of the Year and earned first-team CRCA All-America honors in each of her final three years on the Forty Acres. At the 2018 World Rowing Championships, Doonan finished first in the 8+ and ninth in the 2-.
Ceballos is entering her sophomore season with the Longhorns in 2019-20. She earned the Laurel Korholz Perpetual Trophy at the San Diego Crew Classic, bowing the Novice 8+ to the top overall finish in the grand final. Ceballos competed in the pair for her native Mexico at the 2017 World Rowing Championships in Sarasota.
Christodoulidis, who has been a major contributor to the Longhorns' Big 12 Championships and top-three NCAA finishes in 2018 and 2019, will be a junior for Texas in 2019-20. She has been a member of the Texas Varsity 8+ in each of the last two seasons, which placed second and third, respectively, at the NCAA Championships the last two years.
Slijepcevic, the 2019 Big 12 Rower of the Year, earned CRCA First-Team All-America honors in her junior campaign of 2019. She has been a member of the Texas Varsity 8+ in each of the last three seasons, which has included three first-place finishes at the Big 12 Conference Championships and second, third and fourth-place national finishes, respectively. Slijepcevic competed for her home country of Serbia at the 2017 World Rowing Championships in Sarasota.
Krakic, who has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Longhorns in 2019-20, has competed at the 2019 World Rowing Cups for her home country of Croatia and at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in the W2-.
