Cross Country announces 2019 schedule

Head Coach Edrick Floréal unveiled the Longhorns’ schedule on Wednesday.
AUSTIN, Texas -- The University of Texas Men's and Women's Cross Country teams will compete in six meets to prepare for post-season action during the upcoming 2019 campaign, head coach Edrick Floréal announced on Wednesday.
The Longhorns will run four times in the state of Texas during the regular season, which begins on Aug. 30 at the Bear Twilight Invitational in Waco. Local fans will also get the chance to watch UT run twice in the Austin area, as the Longhorns will host the Texas Invitational on Sept. 13 and compete in the Concordia Cross Country Classic on Sept. 27.
Texas' final meet in its home state will be a return to Waco, where the Horns will race in the Big 12 Cross Country Championship, which takes place on Nov. 2. Last season, Texas finished third in the men's competition and fifth in the women's race.
UT will race twice outside of the Lone Star State before postseason action in 2019, beginning with the Bill Dellinger Invitational, hosted by the University of Oregon, on Sept. 28. The meet, which will be held in Springfield, Ore., is set to feature six teams that finished in the NCAA top 10 last year: BYU men (No. 2), Portland men (No. 3), Oregon women (No. 3), Boise State women (No. 6), BYU women (No. 7) and Boise State men (No. 10).
The Longhorns will also participate in one of the nation's largest cross country meets on Oct. 5, when they run in the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival in Fayetteville, Ark. More than 6,000 athletes, representing high school and college teams, are slated to compete in October.
UT will return to Fayetteville on Nov. 15 for NCAA Regional action, followed by the NCAA Championship on Nov. 23 in Terre Haute, Ind.
