• MAUI (ASHEVILLE) CHAMPS!: Texas claimed its first Maui Invitational tournament title earlier in the week with wins on three straight days against Davidson (78-76), Indiana (66-44) and No. 14/16 North Carolina (69-67).
• TOUGH STRETCH: Texas concludes a stretch of four games in seven days with Sunday's contest against No. 12/3 Villanova. Texas will play two programs (North Carolina in 2017, Villanova in 2016 and 2018) that have won three of the last four NCAA titles in a five-day span.
• MVP IS CLUTCH: Senior G Matt Coleman III, who earned tourney MVP honors at the Camping World Maui Invitational, hit the game-winning jumper with 0.1 second left to knock off No. 14/16 North Carolina in the title game on Wednesday. During the three contests in Asheville, Coleman averaged a team-best 16.0 ppg and 5.0 apg in 37.0 mpg while hitting 50-percent (18-36) from the floor, including a 7-of-17 (.412) mark from three-point range, and 5-of-6 free throws.
