Cross Country collects USTFCCCA All-Academic recognition

Nine individuals and the Women’s Cross Country team were recognized by the USTFCCCA last week.
NEW ORLEANS – The Texas Women's Cross Country team, as well as nine individual Longhorns (5 women/4 men), received All-Academic recognition from the United State Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) last week.
The UT women earned the Team Academic Award for boasting a cumulative 3.46 grade point average throughout the fall semester. In addition, junior Claudine Blancaflor, junior Marissa Flournoy, senior Kathryn Gillespie, sophomore Beth Ramos and junior Madeline Vondra all were recognized as individuals on the All-Academic Team.
On the men's side, senior Garek Bielaczyc, freshman Crayton Carrozza, senior Dan Golden and junior Sam Worley were all honored on the All-Academic Team.
In order for a team to qualify for All-Academic distinction, that team must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period. For individual recognition, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top 25 (or 10 percent) at the NCAA Regional Championships or as an All-American at the NCAA Championships.
