AUSTIN, Texas — Freshman forward Kai Jones registered a career-high 20 points, but The University of Texas Men's Basketball team (19-12, 9-9 Big 12) dropped an 81-59 decision to Oklahoma State (17-14, 7-11 Big 12) in the regular-season finale for both teams on Saturday afternoon at the Frank Erwin Center. The Longhorns had their five-game winning streak in Big 12 play snapped in the loss.
Jones converted a career-best 8-of-12 field goals, including 2-of-5 three-pointers, and added 7 rebounds (one shy of his career high) and 2 steals in 32 minutes. Junior guard Matt Coleman III posted 18 points (6-of-13 FG, 5-of-7 FT) in 38 minutes.
Oklahoma State jumped out to a 20-3 advantage at the 12:59 mark of the first half and controlled the play for the entire contest. The Cowboys set a UT opponent team season high in field goal percentage (.660, 31-47) and three-point field goal percentage (.615, 8-13).
