Hall of Fame coach Jody Conradt will take over LHN Twitter account during re-air of 1986 NCAA Championship Game.
Longhorn Network will partner with espnW on June 23 to air 24 hours of women's sports programming in commemoration of the 48th anniversary of Title IX. Highlighting this programming is LHN's first re-airing of the 1986 NCAA Women's Basketball Championship.
The Texas women's basketball program, which has been a trendsetter from the very start, captured the 1986 NCAA Championship. The Longhorns posted a 34-0 record and became the first team in NCAA Women's Basketball history to chart an undefeated season.
Hall of Fame Coach Jody Conradt, the 1986 NCAA Coach of the Year, will be tweeting along with the re-air of the game on Longhorn Network's Twitter account.
Programming begins on Monday, June 22 at 11 p.m. CT and continues for 24 hours. A full schedule of "When We Play" programming is listed below.
The 48th anniversary of Title IX recognizes when Congress proclaimed that "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance."
One of the greatest impacts of Title IX has been in the area of women's intercollegiate athletics. The University of Texas has long been a leader in women's athletics.
