The 5-foot-7 freshman is a Chatsworth, Calif., native.
Freshman Texas guard Ashley Chevalier joined the Longhorns from Sierra Canyon High School in Chatsworth, Calif., and was rated the No. 27 player at the point guard position by espnW Hoop Gurlz.

Q: Why did you choose to come to Texas?
Ashley Chevalier: "I loved the culture. Just walking around the city, you can understand the massive pride the whole city has for the University. I wanted to be a part of that."
Q: What are you most impressed with about Coach Schaefer?
Ashley Chevalier: "I am impressed with Coach Schaefer's intensity and attention to detail."
Q: Is there a specific reason that you wear No. 25 at Texas?
Ashley Chevalier: "Both of my sisters wore 25 in high school and college and I wanted to be like them."
Q: What are you majoring in and why?
Ashley Chevalier: "I am majoring in psychology because I find the workings of the human brain to be interesting - How our surroundings and outside forces shape us into the people we are. I wanted a deeper understanding of what goes on in people's heads."
Q: Are there basketball players that you've tried to model your game after?
Ashley Chevalier: "I love Allen Iverson and Russell Westbrook."
