This marks the highest preseason coaches’ poll ranking for the Longhorns since 2009-10 (No. 3).
AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Texas Men's Basketball team is ranked No. 5 in the Ferris Mowers preseason coaches' poll announced Wednesday. This marks UT's highest preseason coaches' poll ranking for the Longhorns since the 2009-10 season, when Texas was tabbed at No. 3.
The Longhorns are ranked in the preseason coaches' poll for the first time since the 2014-15 season, when Texas was tabbed No. 10. UT is one of three Big 12 Conference teams selected in the Top 10 of the preseason coaches' poll, as Kansas is ranked No. 3 and Baylor is No. 8.
No. 5/5 Texas tips off the 2021-22 season with an exhibition game against Texas Lutheran on Monday, Nov. 1. Tip is set for 7:30 p.m. Central at the Frank Erwin Center, and admission is free for the general public. The Longhorns open the regular season with a home contest against Houston Baptist on Tuesday, Nov. 9. Tip is scheduled for 8 p.m. Central at the Erwin Center.
