Rowing claims No. 1 ranking in final USRowing/CRCA poll

The Longhorns ascended to the top spot in the rankings for the first time in program history.
AUSTIN, Texas – Fresh off winning their sixth consecutive Big 12 Championship, Texas Rowing is ranked No. 1 in the USRowing/Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Division I poll released on Wednesday morning. The Longhorns received nine first-place votes in rising to the top of the rankings for the first time in program history.
On Saturday, Texas swept the Big 12 Championship for the sixth consecutive year, winning its 10th conference crown in the 12 years that the regatta has been held. The Longhorns' season has included sweeps at top-5 programs Michigan and Virginia, as well as a sweep of the grand finals in the Longhorn Invite.
Previously top-ranked Washington fell to second after holding the number one spot in 20 consecutive polls dating back to April 3, 2019. Stanford moved up one spot to the third position, while Virginia and Michigan rounded out the top five in fourth and fifth, respectively.
Texas opened the season as No. 2 in the preseason poll and had been ranked second in each poll since until this week.
The Longhorns will compete in the NCAA Championships in Sarasota, Fla., Friday-Sunday, May 28-30. Texas has finished in the top-8 in each of the last five NCAA Championship regattas, improving from fourth to third to second in the last three contests.
