Women’s Tennis earns No. 2 national seed for NCAA Championship

Longhorns begin play by hosting NCAA First and Second Rounds on Friday and Saturday.
AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Texas women's tennis team has earned the No. 2 national seed in the 2021 NCAA Championship, the NCAA announced Monday evening. The Longhorns (25-1) will host NCAA First and Second Round matches on Friday, May 7 and Saturday, May 8 at the Texas Tennis Center.
Texas, the Big 12 Conference regular-season and tournament champion, will face Denver (14-3) in the NCAA First Round at 3 p.m. Central on Friday, May 7. No. 33 Arizona State (14-8) will meet No. 38 Mississippi State (11-12) in the other first-round match at 12 p.m. Central on Friday. The two winners will play in the NCAA Second Round at 3 p.m. Central on Saturday, May 8.
UT will make its 36th NCAA Championship appearance and enters Friday's match with a 52-33 all-time record in NCAA tourney play. The Longhorns captured NCAA team titles in 1993 and 1995 and earned NCAA runner-up finishes in 1992 and 2005.
The NCAA will announce its singles and doubles qualifiers for the NCAA Championship on Tuesday, May 4 at 5 p.m. Central on NCAA.com.

Inclement Weather
In the case of inclement weather, matches will be moved indoors to the Edgar O. & Melanie A. Weller Tennis Center at the University of Texas Golf Club. Due to the size of the facility, fans will not be permitted to attend matches that are moved indoors.
