Led by National Long Jump Champion Tara Davis, 17 of the All-Americans were first-team selections.
AUSTIN — Fresh off a pair of top-seven team finishes (men, 6th/women, 7th), Texas Track & Field had 25 student-athletes recognized as USTFCCCA All-Americans following the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships (June 9-12 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.). The top-seven team finishes marked the first time since 2006 that both Longhorn squads were in the top seven at the same NCAA Outdoor Championship. In total, the Longhorns picked up 36 different All-America honors in 12 events at the NCAA meet. Texas' 32 first or second-team All-America recognition across both of its teams were the third-most of any program. First-team All-Americans include the top eight finishers, 8-16 earn second team and 17-24 are named honorable mention in each event.
On the men's side, 13 different Longhorns earned top-24 finishes, including eight who had individual first-team performances or were members of the 4x100 relay team (sixth place). O'Brien Wasome led the way with a pair of first-team All-America honors in the triple jump and 4x100 relay, as well as second-team recognition in the long jump. Micaiah Harris (200m, 4x100 relay) and Steffin McCarter (long jump, 4x100 relay) also claimed a pair of first-team All-American honors. Yusuf Bizimana (800m), Charles Brockman III (400m hurdles), Leo Neugebauer (decathlon) and Tripp Piperi (shot put) all earned first-team All-America recognition in their individual events, while Caleb Hulbin joined Harris, McCarter and Wasome as a member of the first-team All-America 4x100 relay team. Other second-team honors included Crayton Carrozza (800m), Jonathan Jones (400m), and the 4x400m relay team of Jones, Jon Maas, Matt Nortje and Willington Wright.
For the women, 12 different Longhorns earned top-24 finishes, including nine who had first-team performances or were members of the 4x100 (fifth place) or 4x400 (fifth place) relay teams. Tara Davis led the way in the individual events by adding an NCAA Outdoor long jump title to her NCAA indoor title. For those efforts, Texas' first-ever outdoor long jump champ and the first Longhorn (man or woman) to sweep the indoor and outdoor titles is a first-team All-American. Rhasidat Adeleke earned a pair of first-team All-America relay honors (4x100, 4x400) and added second-team recognition in the 200m. Kevona Davis (200m, 4x100) and Stacey Ann Williams (400m, 4x400) earned double first-team All-America honors. Kristine Blazevica (third in heptathlon) joined Neugebauer (fourth in decathlon) as a first-team All-America in the multi-events, establishing Texas as the only program with a top four finisher in both the men's and women's multi-events in 2021. In addition, Chanel Brissett (4x100), Serenity Douglas (4x400), Kynnedy Flannel (4x100) and Kennedy Simon (4x400) all earned first-team All-America honors as members of relay squads, while Flannel was also second team in the 200m, and Simon was also honorable mention in the 400m. Joining Simon with honorable mention were Sophia Falco (triple jump) and Aasia Laurencin (100m hurdles).
