Men’s and Women’s Basketball to play in Pac-12 Coast-to-Coast Challenge on Dec. 19 in Las Vegas

AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Texas Men's and Women's Basketball teams will compete in the inaugural Pac-12 Coast-to-Coast Challenge presented by MGM Resorts International, a doubleheader on Sunday, Dec. 19 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Men's Basketball will square off against Stanford at 2 p.m. Central (Noon Pacific) on ABC, while Women's Basketball will meet Arizona at 4:30 p.m. Central (2:30 p.m. Pacific) on ESPN2. Ticket information and details will be announced at a later date.

The annual Challenge, a non-conference scheduling series developed in partnership with the Oak View Group (OVG), Basketball Promotions & Events (BPE) and T-Mobile Arena, was originally announced in 2019 and slated to begin last December, but delayed a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

On the men's side, the Longhorns hold a 3-2 lead in the all-time series against Stanford. In the most recent meeting (Dec. 19, 2015), Texas earned a 75-73 victory in Palo Alto as Isaiah Taylor banked in a floater with 1.1 seconds remaining. The Longhorns have won both of the previous neutral-site matchups against the Cardinal. UT claimed an 83-75 overtime victory in Chicago on Dec. 1, 2001, as part of the Dell Classic 4 Kids, and later posted an 82-62 win in Houston on March 28, 2008 in the NCAA Tournament Round of 16.

On the women's front, Texas holds a 2-1 lead in the all-time series against Arizona. UT claimed an 81-57 victory in Austin in the first meeting between the two schools (Dec. 5, 1992) and added a 79-68 win in Tucson on Dec. 21, 1993.
