Men’s Tennis secures four wins on day two of Battle in the Bay Classic

Micah Braswell and Richard Ciamarra each won a singles match, while both doubles pairs moved on to the quarterfinals.
San Francisco – Texas Men's Tennis secured four wins on the second day of the Battle in the Bay Classic in San Francisco on Thursday. Sophomore Micah Braswell and senior Richard Ciamarra advanced to the singles Round of 16 before falling in their second matches, while the duos of Braswell and Ciamarra, along with junior Nevin Arimilli and sophomore Evin McDonald made it to the doubles quarterfinals.
The day started with doubles play as Arimilli and McDonald downed Andrew Rogers and Tim Zeitvogel of Pepperdine, 8-4. They were then followed by an 8-5 win from third-seeded Braswell and Ciamarra over Samuel Rubell and Paul Barretto of USC.
Ciamarra and Rubell also played in singles with third-seeded Ciamarra taking the 6-1, 6-3 decision in his first singles match as a Longhorn. Meanwhile, fifth-seeded Braswell won by the exact same score over Stefano Tsorotiotis of UC-Santa Barbara. However, Ciamarra was later downed by Timothy Sah of Stanford, 7-6 (4), 6-3, as was Braswell, 6-2, 6-4, to Lui Maxted of TCU in the Round of 16.
Arimilli and McDonald fell in their singles matches with Arimilli being by a score of 6-2, 6-3 to Jake Fearnley of TCU, and McDonald at 6-3, 6-3 to sixth-seeded Yuta Kikuchi of Cal. Both will now enter the consolation bracket.
