AUSTIN, Texas — Texas women's basketball sophomore Aaliyah Moore suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee on Sunday and will miss the remainder of the 2022-23 season.
Moore injured her knee in the Longhorns game against Alabama State on Sunday, Dec. 11.
"I want to thank my teammates, our coaching staff and the athletic training staff and team doctors at Texas for their support during this difficult time," Moore said. "I'm grateful to have such a family atmosphere at Texas and people who care about me both on and off the court. I know God has a plan for me and I'm going to work as hard as I can to be able to rejoin my teammates on the court. I'm going to attack the rehab process and be the best teammate I can from the sidelines."
"We are all devastated for Aaliyah and our thoughts and prayers are with her and her family during this time," Texas Head Coach Vic Schaefer said. "Aaliyah is not only a great basketball player, she is an incredible young lady, and a great teammate. It's always difficult to see a young person go through this. We will be by her side, every step of the way and help her get through this. We know she will return next season and be better and stronger than ever. I know she will continue to be a great teammate and she will help her team throughout the course of the season".
Moore will undergo surgery in the coming weeks and begin the rehabilitation process.
