The Longhorns earn a spot in the final AP rankings for just the second time since the 2010-11 season.
AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Texas Men's Basketball team is ranked No. 25 in the final Associated Press Top 25, the wire service announced Monday. Prior to last season's final AP poll ranking (No. 9), the Longhorns had not appeared in the final AP poll since a No. 8 ranking in the 2010-11 season.
Texas has now made 13 appearances in the final AP poll since the wire service started its college basketball rankings in 1949.
Texas (21-11, 10-8 Big 12), the No. 6 seed in the East Region, faces No. 11 seed Virginia Tech in the NCAA First Round on Friday, March 18. Tip is set for approximately 3:30 p.m. Central at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, and the game will be televised nationally by TBS.
