Four Longhorns earn Phillips 66 All-Big 12 Women’s Basketball Awards

Harmon, Allen-Taylor, Matharu and Ebo recognized by league coaches
IRVING, Texas — Four members of the University of Texas Women's Basketball program earned 2021-22 Phillips 66 All-Big 12 honors, the league office announced Monday.
Freshman guard Rori Harmon was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year while also earning spots on the All-Big 12 Second Team, All-Defensive Team and All-Freshman team.
Senior guard Joanne Allen-Taylor was also named to the All-Big 12 Second Team, while junior guard Aliyah Matharu and senior center Lauren Ebo rounded out the Longhorns' recognitions as they were both tabbed Honorable Mention All-Big 12.
Harmon has appeared in all 29 contests (27 starts) this season averaging 10.4 points per game. The Houston native ranks No.4 in the Big 12 and No.5 among Division I freshman averaging 4.8 assists per game and paces the conference with 77 steals. Harmon is the first Longhorn to garner Freshman of the Year honors since 2017 (Joyner Holmes).
Allen-Taylor started all 29 contests for the Longhorns ranking second on the team in scoring averaging 10.9 points per game to go along with 54 assists and 41 steals. She earns All-Big 12 honors for the second-straight year after being named All-Big 12 Honorable mention a season ago.
Matharu, a first-year transfer from Mississippi State, leads the Longhorns and ranks No. 10 in the conference averaging 12.9 points per game. She ranks No. 3 in the Big 12 with a 39.5 three-point field goal percentage.
Ebo has appeared in 28 contests (23 starts) this season and leads the team and ranks No.9 in rebounding bringing down seven boards per game. She also shares the team lead with 23 blocks to go along with 7.8 points per game offensively.
The official All-Big 12 awards are selected by the league's head coaches. The Coaches are not permitted to vote for their own players.
No. 7/10 Texas (23-6, 13-5 Big 12) is the No. 3 seed in this week's Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship in Kansas City and is set to open play in a quarterfinal-round matchup with No. 6 seed Kansas State this Friday, March 11 at 7:30 p.m. Central. The game will air on ESPN+.
