Six Longhorns invited to USRowing U23 National Team Selection Camps

Athletes selected through the camps will represent the U.S. at the 2022 World Rowing Under 23 Championships in July.
PRINCETON, N.J. – No. 1 Rowing had six student-athletes invited to take part in the USRowing 2022 Under 23 National Team Selection Camps, the organization announce on Tuesday. Athletes selected through the camps will represent the U.S. at the 2022 World Rowing Under 23 Championships July 25-30 in Varese, Italy. Texas' six invitees are the most among any program in the nation.
Sophia Calabrese, Sue Holderness and Samantha Schalk were invited to take part in the sculling selection camp, while Etta Carpender, Lanie Nitsch and Rachel Rane will take part in the sweep selection camp.
Under the direction of coaches Reilly Dampeer, Molly Hamrick, and Marc Oria, the women's sculling camp will take place at the Oklahoma City High Performance Center in Oklahoma City. The camp will select the women's quadruple sculls crew that will race in Varese.
The women's sweep camp will take place at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va. Coached by Kevin Sauer, Asiya Mahmud, and Kelsie Chaudoin, the camp will select the women's eight and women's four with coxswain that will race in Italy.
The selection camps will begin between June 17-19 and run through July 10.
Texas swept five races at the Big 12 Championship on Sunday morning to win their seventh consecutive conference title and will look to defend their NCAA National Championship next week in Sarasota, Fla. beginning on May 27.
