Sullivan, Leibel win silver at TYR Pro Swim Series Mission Viejo

Erica Sullivan finished second in the women’s 800m freestyle and Kyla Leibel placed second in the women’s 50m freestyle; Will Licon won the men’s 200m breaststroke.
MISSION VIEJO, Calif. – Texas Swimming collected four top-three results to wrap up the final stop of the 2021-2022 TYR Pro Swim Series on Saturday at the Marguerite Aquatics Center. Erica Sullivan and Olivia McMurray took second and third, respectively, in the women's 800-meter freestyle, and Kyla Leibel took second in the women's 50-meter freestyle, while Texas Ex Will Licon won the men's 200-meter breaststroke.
All told, current and former Longhorns registered eight top-three showings at the Mission Viejo stop this week.
Sullivan finished runner-up in the women's 800m free with a time of 8:47.54 and Olivia McMurray took third in 8:54.20. Katie Grimes picked up the win with a time of 8:27.72.
Kyla Leibel added second-place result in the 50m free with a personal-best time of 25.47, giving her three top-four results at the meet, and Morgan Brophy placed seventh in women's 200m IM in 2:20.46.
Licon won the men's 200-meter breaststroke, touching the wall in 2:12.28, over six seconds ahead of runner-up Ethan Hansen (2:18.53) with Brandon Fischer taking third (2:19.25). It marked Licon's second victory of the week after winning the 100m breast on Thursday.
"I thought I executed (the swim) pretty good," Licon said. "I'm curious to see the splits and kind of see how it all added up in the end."
