Women’s Tennis earns ITA All-Academic Team recognition

Seven Longhorns from 2021-22 roster named ITA Scholar-Athletes.
AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Texas Women's Tennis team earned All-Academic Team recognition from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), the organization announced Monday. In addition, seven Longhorns from the 2021-22 roster garnered ITA Scholar-Athlete accolades, including Charlotte Chavatipon, Gabby Cusano, Simran Kortikere, Vivian Ovrootsky, Malaika Rapolu, Grace Thomas and Sabina Zeynalova.
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must meet the following requirements:
- Have a team GPA of 3.2 or above (4.0 scale)
- All student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and
- All varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year
To earn ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition, a student-athletes must meet the following requirements:
- Have a GPA of at least 3.5 (4.0 scale) for the current academic year
- Be listed on the institutional eligibility form
The Longhorns posted a 26-4 dual-match record during the 2022 season and captured their second-straight and fourth NCAA team title in program history with a 4-1 victory against Oklahoma in the championship match on May 22. Texas previously won NCAA Championships in 1993, 1995 and 2021. The Longhorns joined Stanford and Florida as the only schools to repeat as NCAA Division I Women's Tennis national champions since 1982.
