Carson Foster led the way for the Longhorns having been nominated in four different categories. He's been nominated for Breakout Performer of the Year, Relay Performance of the Year for his leg in the men's 4x200 free relay, Male Race of the Year in the 400 IM and Male Athlete of the Year.
Foster shined at this year's 2022 FINA Swimming World Championships, coming away from the competition with a silver medal in the 400 IM with a personal-best and new UT record with his time of 4:06.56. He added another silver medal in the 200 IM with a time of 1:55.71 and capped off the meet with a gold medal performance in the 4x200 free relay and split 1:45.04 to help team USA win for the first time since 2013.
Drew Kibler is also nominated for Relay Performance of the Year with Foster after being the lead off leg for Team USA. Kibler's split was 1:45.54 before giving way to Foster.
Hall of Fame coach Eddie Reese is up for the Coach of the Year after yet another historical year in charge of the Longhorns. Reese served as one of the five assistant coaches for Team USA at this year's World Championships after having five Longhorn Aquatics men compete in Budapest. Three of the six members of the gold-medal winning 4x200 relay team (both prelims and finals) train under Reese. Foster, Kibler and Shaine Casas, who trains with Reese, earned four medals to the US tally.
