No. 2 Men’s Swimming and Diving sweeps Big 12 weekly awards

The Longhorns swept the conference honors for the third time this season.
IRVING, Texas – No. 2 Texas Men's Swimming and Diving swept the Big 12 Conference weekly awards for the third time this season after splitting a pair of dual meets with No. 13 Ohio State and No. 14 Alabama last week.
The Longhorns topped the Crimson Tide, 220.50, but fell to the Buckeyes, 189-164, in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Jake Foster was tabbed the Big 12 Swimmer of the Week for the first time this season and in his career. A native of Cincinnati, Foster had three top-two individual finishes, including a sweep of the breaststroke events, and a fourth-place finish in Texas' double dual-meet against No. 13 Ohio State and No. 14 Alabama. The senior won the 100 breast (53.49) and 200 breast (1:56.08), placed second in the 200 IM (1:45.79) and took fourth in the 100 IM (49.01). He also helped the Longhorns to a second-place finish in the 400 medley relay while also racing in the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay.
Freshman Nick Harris picked up Diver of the Week accolades for the second time this season after he tallied a pair of top-two performances in Tuscaloosa. He started the weekend off by winning the 1-meter, scoring 379.95 points to win by 16.80 points. The Chester Springs, Pa. native added a runner-up result on the 3-meter, scoring 395.95 points.
Will Chan earned Newcomer of the Week honors for the first time after placing third in the 100 breast (54.22) and helping Texas to a third-place result in the 200 medley relay (23.98 breast split). The graduate student had a breaststroke split of 53.99 with Texas' 400 medley relay B squad (3:17.67) and added swims in the 200 breaststroke and 50 free.
