Women’s Tennis advances three to singles quarterfinals, one pair to doubles semifinals at ITA Texas Regionals

Charlotte Chavatipon, Malaika Rapolu and Vivian Ovrootsky moved on in singles, while the duo of Tanya Sasnouskaya and Sabina Zeynalova did so in doubles.
Waco, Texas – Texas Women's Tennis advanced three singles players to the ITA Texas Regionals main draw quarterfinals, and one doubles pair to the main draw semifinals in Waco on Saturday. The Longhorns also had a doubles tandem reach the semifinals of the consolation draw.
The three singles players included senior 3 seed No. 74 Charlotte Chavatipon, senior 4 seed No. 99 Malaika Rapolu, and sophomore 10 seed Vivian Ovrootsky, while the main draw doubles pair was the 2 seed of graduate Tanya Sasnouskaya and junior Sabina Zeynalova, and the consolation draw doubles duo was the 3 seed of Rapolu and Ovrootsky.
In the singles matches, Chavatipon defeated Sarina Reinertsen of UT-Arlington, 6-1, 6-4, Raplou downed Andreea Lila of Texas Tech, 6-3, 6-2, and Ovrootsky topped 7 seed #113 Mariya Polishchuk of the Red Raiders, 7-6 (5), 6-3. The lone defeat of the day was 1 seed #18 Sasnouskaya falling to Destinee Martins of TCU, 2-6, 7-6 (7), 6-4.
In doubles, Sasnouskaya and Zeynalova first downed the 10 seed Sydney Fitch and Daria Smetannikov of Texas A&M, 8-6, in the round of 16, and then took down another seeded team in Maja Makoric and Caroline McGinley of SMU, 8-7 (2), in the quarterfinals. Meanwhile in the consolation draw, Rapolu and Ovrootsky topped Maryjoe Crisologo and Libby Blair, 8-3, in that round of 16, before defeating Noelia Lorca and Adeliya Mukhutdinova of Tarleton, 8-1, in those quarterfinals.
Sunday's action will begin with doubles at 9 a.m. CT, followed by two rounds of singles at approximately 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. CT. Sasnouskaya and Zeynalova will face 15 seed Cristina Tiglea and Mariya Polishchuk of Texas Tech, while Rapolu and Ovrootsky will play Maretha Burger and Martha Makantasi of Tarleton. In singles, Chavatipon will face Jermine Sherif of Texas Tech, Rapolu play 6 seed No. 112 Avelina Sayfetdinova also of the Red Raiders, and Ovrootsky will take on 2 seed No. 59 Isabella Harvison of Baylor.
